Automate Stashy with Shortcuts
Updated 13 October 2026. 2 minute read.
Shortcuts is Apple's app for chaining actions together. You build a small recipe once, then run it from the Home Screen, the Action button, a widget, or by asking Siri. Stashy adds its own actions to Shortcuts, so most of what you do in the app by hand can become one step in something larger.
The actions
Saving
- Save Link to Stashy
- Save Note to Stashy
- Save File to Stashy
- Save Clipboard to Stashy
Finding and opening
- Find Stashy Items
- Open Stashy Item
- Ask Stashy Library
Organising
- Add Note to Stashy Item
- File Stashy Item in Category
- Create Stashy Category
- Delete Stashy Item
Reminders
- Set Stashy Reminder
- Cancel Stashy Reminder
To find them, open Shortcuts, start a new shortcut, tap to add an action and search for "Stashy".
Three automations worth building
Save the clipboard from anywhere
One action: Save Clipboard to Stashy. Add the shortcut to your Home Screen or assign it to the Action button. Copy something in any app, press once, and it is saved without opening Stashy.
A reading list for Saturday
- Save Link to Stashy, with the shortcut set to accept what you share to it.
- Set Stashy Reminder on the result, for Saturday morning.
Name it "Read on Saturday". It then appears in the Share Sheet, and a link sent through it comes back to you at the weekend by itself.
Dictate a note hands-free
- Dictate Text, one of the system's own actions.
- Save Note to Stashy with the dictated text.
Run it by voice while cooking or driving.
Combining with other apps
Because these are ordinary Shortcuts actions, they work alongside everything else Shortcuts can do. A few ideas:
- Save the address of the page you are reading on your Mac at a fixed time each evening.
- Find Stashy items in a category and send the list to someone.
- When you arrive at the supermarket, open the save that holds your shopping note.
Good to know
- Ask Stashy Library needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence. See which devices are supported.
- Everything runs on your device. A shortcut that saves to Stashy does not send the content anywhere else, unless you add an action that does.
- Deleted items go to the Bin first, also when a shortcut deletes them, so a mistake in an automation can be undone.
Start small
The useful automations are short. One or two actions that remove a step you repeat every day are worth more than a twenty-step workflow you run once. Start with saving the clipboard, and add to it only when you notice yourself doing something by hand again.
