How to keep Instagram and TikTok posts you want to find again

Updated 13 October 2026. 2 minute read.

Instagram has Saved. TikTok has Favorites. Both are easy to use and both have the same weakness: what you save stays inside that app, in a grid of thumbnails, next to several hundred other things you saved. Finding the one restaurant, the one stretch routine or the one shelf you meant to build means scrolling.

The fix is to treat a post like any other link and keep it in the place where your other saves live.

Copy the link out of Instagram

  1. Open the post or reel.
  2. Tap the Share button, the paper plane.
  3. Choose Copy link, or the option that opens the system Share Sheet.

  1. Open the video.
  2. Tap Share, the arrow on the right.
  3. Choose Copy link, or More to open the system Share Sheet.

Menus in both apps change from time to time, so the wording may differ slightly. The two things to look for are always the same: a copy option and a way to reach the system Share Sheet.

Save it where you can search

If you reached the Share Sheet, choose the app you save to. If you copied the link, open that app and paste. In Stashy, tap the plus button and choose Paste, or Link.

Then do the one thing the social apps never ask of you: say why you kept it. A post's caption is often a line of hashtags, so a short note of your own is what will make it findable.

Ten seconds, and the save now answers the question you will ask in three months.

Why this beats the built-in folders

What a saved link cannot do

A link points at the post. If the creator deletes it or makes their account private, the link stops working. For something you really need, such as a recipe or a set of measurements, write the essentials into the note, or take a screenshot and save that alongside.
